A berry sweet day at the strawberry farm with our friends! It was a fantastic experience for both kids and parents as we had the opportunity to learn about the entire process, from growing the strawberries to picking and tasting them! The weather was extremely windy, but we didn't let that stop us.
After learning more about the farm and growing strawberries, the kids were excited to pick their own. They were given baskets and shown how to carefully select the reddest, juiciest berries. There were rows upon rows of strawberries just waiting to be picked. Before we started, the owner gave us a quick lesson on proper berry-picking technique (don't forget to twist, not pull!). Then we got to work. We couldn't wait to get started! The group enjoyed wandering through the farm, searching for the juiciest and sweetest strawberries. There's something so satisfying about picking your own food. It feels like you've really earned it! And there’s nothing quite like the taste of freshly picked fruit. And let's be honest, there were plenty of taste-testing breaks along the way. It's hard to resist the temptation of a perfectly ripe strawberry! We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and baskets overflowing with delicious berries. The kids learned learned about agriculture, science, and nutrition in a fun and interactive way.
With our baskets full of juicy strawberries, we headed over to a local park for a strawberry-themed story time, followed by a relaxing picnic and some quality playtime. A huge thank you to the strawberry farm for hosting us and providing such a wonderful educational experience. It just goes to show that you can have a fruitful (pun intended) learning experience outside of traditional classrooms.
